With every type of therapy that we offer, we strive to teach adolescents to understand themselves better. Your best efforts will go wasted if they are unable to connect with themselves and learn how to understand themselves. The purpose of insight therapy is to help them do just that; connect with themselves.
What is insight therapy?
Insight Therapy is our program where we teach adolescents to understand what is going on interiorly. This helps us understand, and help them also gain an understanding, of the cause of their deviant behaviors. We incorporate Insight Therapy into the daily interactions that they have with the entire treatment team, as well as their family and through their other forms of therapy such as family/relationship, individual, and group therapy sessions.
Our trained therapists can often learn what is causing conflict in your child, before your child learns it for themselves. However, an important part of healing and beginning to progress, is for your child to understand why they feel the way that they do. It’s important to let them know that their feelings are valid and deserve to be heard. Insight therapy helps your child understand how certain events in their past are negatively influencing them and their current thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Insight therapy is an incredibly empowering experience for the client, because many people spend their life confused about why they feel the way they do. This gives them the understanding, and then we give them the tools to combat these issues. Once they understand why they have issues with self-esteem, insecurity, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and other mental ailments, they’ll be able to take the first steps to overcoming these illnesses.
