Sometimes our lives have to be completely shaken up, changed, and rearranged to relocate us to the place we’re meant to be.”
Two years ago, I never would have assumed I would work on a ranch. Get down and dirty? Not necessarily the most appealing idea to a girl who planned on breaking into fashion marketing. Somewhere along the way, though, people became more important than material items.
My days are spent working outside, teaching young women the process of human development through hard work. For someone who grew up right outside of Washington D.C, hard work meant being a “boss” rather than being a “leader.” The work I said yes to being a part of has changed my life as much as the young women who I lead on a daily basis.
As I coach these young women in life skills, I learn different ways to speak to people in a way they will understand and comprehend. Sometimes a person may need more or less explanation in order to comprehend appropriately and get a job done. In the work that I do, I learn how to be patient and understand those who are frustrated. I learn how to express my love to those who feel they do not deserve it. And most of all, I learned the strength that God gives us, in order to be brave, presents an unexpected lifestyle change for the greater good of others.
